LSU OM Rivalry

Looks like it has been named the Magnolia Rivalry. i still think it should have been named the Bourbon Bowl, or the Battle for the Corndog
Oh, I wish I was in the land of cotton... Old times they are not forgotten.

Personally, I don't like it.

I think it's allright...magnolia is the state flower of both states. Totally PC though.cajunrebel wrote:Personally, I don't like it.

When I think of magnolias, I don't think of Louisianna. Not sure what flower or tree makes me think of Louisianna, though... is there such thing as a corndog tree??hill william wrote:I think it's allright...magnolia is the state flower of both states. Again...real rivalries require no name.
You will never hear this ridiculous name come from my mouth.
Sounds like a women's afternoon tea party.
Oh Sylivia....are you attending the Magnolia Rivalry this Saturday afternoon? Why yes, but I haven't a clue what to wear dear!

I agree with Chuck. The reason I don't like it is b/c it's WEAK!!!
If we have a football game and a garden party breaks out I'll cry.

I never liked that whole "cocktail party" thing with UGA and Fla either... sounded kind of lame for a flippin' football game... a football game in which two relatively tough teams should come together in a helmet-smacking crash to determine the winner. How did they get cocktail party out of that?!? These rivalries are starting to get kind of lame. I want it to be called like "SMACKFEST" or "BLOODSHED" or something rough like that. This ain't powder-puff ball. This is SEC football. We can do better than "magnolias" and "cocktails."cajunrebel wrote:I agree with Chuck. The reason I don't like it is b/c it's WEAK!!!

It doesn't need a "bowl" name - too gimmicky to me.
"Rumble on the River" was what I was hoping for.cajunrebel wrote:I agree with Chuck. The reason I don't like it is b/c it's WEAK!!!

Once again ol' Rebchuck is dead-on. Those poor souls who have never consistently known this rivalry in its proper magnitude think this game needs a nametag that reads: "HELLO! My name is Magnolia Rivalry!" It's kind of like Lee & Grant wearing name-tags at Appomattox, or Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin at Yalta...Rebchuck18 wrote:Again...real rivalries require no name.
