I think it's allright...magnolia is the state flower of both states. Totally PC though.
When I think of magnolias, I don't think of Louisianna. Not sure what flower or tree makes me think of Louisianna, though... is there such thing as a corndog tree??

Louisiana's state flower is the magnolia. Mississippi is the Magnolia state.

I think it makes sense, and seeing as I grew up climbing the Magnolia tree of my front yard in South Louisiana. I find it as fitting as it is PC.

RebelConvert wrote:"the Rivarly that Needs No Name"
This is exactly what I suggested when this topic first came up. It's the only way to "give it a name" without ruining the game for those of us born before 1980. I suggested calling it the "No Name Game" and the trophy (to be designed by more creative men than me) would read as follows:

No Name Game
Oct 31st, 2008
Ole Miss 24
No Name 10

In other words, the winner is immortalized on the trophy and the loser is not even recognized...

We'd have the short end of the stick for a while, but it'll come around.... It always does!!!!

I wish they would move that game back to around Halloween and if they were to call it anything, the Halloween Game, the Halloween Bowl, the Halloween Treat, the Halloween Massacre...you get the idea.

Trophy could be a Crystal Skull.

That would be unique.

The magnolia is the state flower of both Mississippi and Louisiana.

Yeah I was already told that. I still don't associate Louisiana with magnolias. That's just me. I think there should be some kind of rule that two states cannot share "state things" like flowers or birds. Every state should some how be unique.

I agree, and since Louisiana was around first.

The Fight for the Magnolia seems awfully benign for this football game.
You've just got to learn from the wrong things you've done. I came off the rebound, started looking around, figured out it's time to have a little fun.

You will never hear this ridiculous name come from my mouth.

Sounds like a women's afternoon tea party.

Oh Sylivia....are you attending the Magnolia Rivalry this Saturday afternoon? Why yes, but I haven't a clue what to wear dear! :?
Agreed, no need for a kitsche name. Ole Miss vs LSU is good enough.
