Watching the game it looked like the Ref was bracing himself for contact. I've seen that angle and it looks like he's actually going toward Garcia to give him a forearm.Tcounty wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqfOCB21qwA
He needs to be reprimanded.
Nutt calls the formation the Wild Rebel. Which sure beats the heck out of Orgeron's Wild Boys.

If that is the case he needs to be fired!Redbluedude wrote:Watching the game it looked like the Ref was bracing himself for contact. I've seen that angle and it looks like he's actually going toward Garcia to give him a forearm.Tcounty wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqfOCB21qwA

I really don't think he went after Garcia. The video was in slow motion. I think he stepped up b/c he thought Garcia was gonna cut behind him and when he didn't he threw up his arms to protect himself.
Maybe Garcia should stop being a wuss and just run over the ref.

Hard to make an argument that he throw up hes arms to protect himself. When it clearly appears he throw hes entire body at him.lewindha wrote:I really don't think he went after Garcia. Of course he did and he probably shouldn't have. You gotta lean into it to absorb the blow.Goroth wrote:Hard to make an argument that he throw up hes arms to protect himself. He probably should have just ducked and covered, but I don't think he did it on purpose.

Watch it closely. Garcia gives a little juke and looks like he may cut behind the official, the official steps forward, Garcia doesn't cut, the official throws he arms up to protect himself.
This is not as big a deal as some are making it out to be. He'll probably get punished in some form or another and rightfully so. But he wasn't going after Garcia.

Any more conspiracies. Its a fast paced game, so it happens. Ive seen refs get hit, but I will never see that again. He was just protecting himself. Woulkdnt you if you had no pads and the guy is way bigger than you.Goroth wrote:from that video it just looks exactly what it appears to be. Just a clear example of how games might truly just be might be fixed.
I have watched the video several times and have come to the conclusion it was a pretty poor attempt at an open-field tackle. While he did keep his head up, he failed to wrap up and drive through the ball carrier.

You gotta wrap up.rewalters wrote:I have watched the video several times and have come to the conclusion it was a pretty poor attempt at an open-field tackle. While he did keep his head up, he failed to wrap up and drive through the ball carrier.

He was quoted as saying that he lost himself for a moment there and because Garia ran within a close range he had a brief moment where he thought he was actually playing football again, so he just did was seemed natural. After he made his move he suddenly realized that he was no longer in college and that we was not even in fact dressed out, not to mention that he was supposed to be an neutral bi-standard, so he pulled back as best he could. He assured the SEC that it would not happen again and he apologized.rewalters wrote:I have watched the video several times and have come to the conclusion it was a pretty poor attempt at an open-field tackle. I don't care if he's sorry or not, his actions are absolutely flabbergasting. "Caught up in the moment" is an excuse, you are an SEC official. GET IT AND KEEP IT TOGETHER!!!!!!!! We have enough problems with SEC officials being horrible without them "losing their minds" and considering tackling players. I saw video of what was supposedly the same guy clapping after a USC incomplete pass later in the game. This guy should be severely disciplined.rebeloke wrote:He was quoted as saying that he lost himself for a moment there and because Garia ran within a close range he had a brief moment where he thought he was actually playing football again, so he just did was seemed natural. Yeah, I was watching that game, that was messed up. Don't get me wrong, I hate LSU and all but that ref looked like he had some cash on the game.
Officiating is really incompetent lately, I see a few plays every week where they've totally screwed up. Remember we got screwed last year in the Alabama game on an instant replay. That ref should die.
