A couple of weeks ago, I came to this board and posted a question as research for an upcoming blog article I was writing. The article was to be about the not so well known rivalries throughout the SEC. The rivalries that only the fans, coaches, and players of each school knows about. I had the voters rule out the Egg Bowl, since that game was pretty well known thruout the country, and tell me which team was our #2 rivalry. To Some LSU would be #1 but remember for the sake of argument the #2 slot was all that was left to decide. Anyway, to make a long story short, I have written the article and posted it to my blog this morning. Here is a snippet that I hope will peak your interest:
The second rivalry I want to visit today is the not so well known Ole Miss versus LSU rivalry and newly named by the student bodies of each school as the “Magnolia Bowl.” Posting this question on the LSU boards I was informed by some of the Tiger fans that this wasn’t a rivalry to them at all, but Older LSU fans know what it meant years ago. On the Ole Miss side of this question though, it was a unanimous vote for LSU. I can remember as a kid being taught to always pull for Ole Miss and anyone that plays LSU. Stories like the 1972 clock incident will fascinate any college football fan, but I have chosen the 1959 Halloween night game to illustrate this rivalry because the story of this game has a happy ending for both teams as well as possibly crowning a Heisman Trophy winner.

I hope that you will read the entire article, not just the Ole Miss stuff, and please post your comments. I appreciate the help that all of you give in letting me know who you thought was our second biggest Rivalry. Being a lifetime Ole Miss fan, I pretty much already knew, I just needed your help to confirm it. Since finding this site, I have truly enjoyed posting here and I hope we can continue, maybe even one day share a Tailgate together.

It is a well known Rivalry within the SEC, but ask someone from Texas, or New York. They will know about the Egg Bowl, but maybe not the Ole Miss / LSU

I have to write the article as if someone other than SEC people may read it. It may be a delusion of granduer, but that was my intention.
