That is yet to be determine....but I can say with 100% confidence is that we will NOT win without him. All this talk below about what to do...and him missing easy passes is just symptoms of a bigger issue and that is the lack of protection and a decent running game. It is painfully obvious that snead has been pressing and trying to carry too much of the load. Eli had similar problems at certain points during his career....I could go into details....I trust most will not have that short of a memory. Eli work his kinks out just as I trust Jevan will. Jevan is a special talent going through some growing pains.... It is obvious he can do the job to me... and we don't need to boo or bench the kid.... That would be the worst coaching move ever, and if you boo'd him...well...your the worst fan ever.

Again... I will say this.... Snead is trying to hard to carry the team on his back.... Things would be much better if we had anything that even resembled a running game, and better protection. Take even just a little of that pressure off.....and I will guarrentee you that his performance will be off the chart...much like last year. This kid has NFL qualities.... just as Eli did when he struggled here during his growth periods.

Then, I'm the worst fan ever. Because I want a qb who was touted as the top nfl qb prospect in college by some to play like the top nfl qb prospect?

He didn't look great against Memphis or SE LA. Explain that?

So I can ONLY cheer them when they're doing well, but keep my mouth shut when they're doing bad?

Let me tell you something. I have been an Ole Miss fan my entire life. I can remember going to football games at the age of 2. I have 2 degrees from Ole Miss for which I am still paying for in the form of loans. I am a member of the Alumni Association and every d*** time that student calls me asking for money, I give what I can.

Don't tell me I'm a bad fan b/c I want my team to do better and criticize some of the players. Those guys are getting a free education to play football. Did I get a free education? No, I'm 20 grand in the hole for mine.

Unless their scholly money can be docked for not playing well, then they should be able to take the criticism. It's not like they don't know they're playing crappy.

I will just disagree.... and I will call you a bad fan.... Why... because you booing is purely a selfish intent, and does not help in the least with a young QB struggling. You talk about NFL expectations.... Did snead tout himself as a NFL QB.... has he been going around saying hey... Look at me... I am ready for the NFL now? The answer is no.... that was heaped onto him...and when he has a bad stretch... you want to boo him redicule him...persecute him...throw him to the wolves? I have no objections to being critical.... but booing your own players is wrong. The act is certainly counter productive as a team.... to which I feel connected to. Let put it this way.... if one of his fellow team mates started booing him off the sideline...rediculing him...cussing him...as a coach...that player would be off the team. You dont do that to a team mate, and I consider me on team Ole Miss...Criticism is best handled in house. That is just how I was raised.

Look, When you pay for your seat... you have a right to boo. I will give you that.... it is a free country. At the same time.... I certainly have the right to call you a bad fan. That is my right.

A young QB struggling? You're a bad fan for not knowing what the hell you're talking about.

He's a freakin Junior who is the age of a Senior.

In the SEC:
He's 2nd to last in passing efficiency
3rd from last in passing yards
2nd to last in completion percentage
Tied for 1st in interceptions with Tennessee

And he's been sacked 8 times which is middle of the pack. Which means our O-Line is giving him decent but not great protection. Bama didn't sack him once. We sacked McElroy twice, but did he throw interceptions? Before this year, how many games has McElroy started in college? He's not struggling. I know his stats weren't great against us, but he's not turning the ball over and he's been MUCH better than Snead.

Young as in a student in college. Young... as compared to your age. :-) Young as in playing in less than... and here is the key..... less than 15 games in college career. Young ... as compared to Eli junior year when he struggled... young in as...GIVE HIM A BREAK..... young in as ...he does not DESERVE TO BE BOOED. If a changed needs to be made...then the coach needs to make it...but the kid and here is the key... KID...does not need to be booed. To me...your the one who is off topic. This is not about Snead poor performance...but rather the poor behavior of some limited fans.
Here is the biggest problem. These fans (who are usually oversized) sit in their seats watching 18 - 20 year old young men....and when things don't go right...the lose hope and faith...crumble under frustration and start to boo. THEN....when people call them on their behavior...they get defensive and wonder why they are being critized for their behavior. Seems a bit hipocritical to me...to which I respond.

Eli's teams didnt have half the talent of this team or last years. I dont think Jevan is trying to "carry the team". I actually think the complete opposite at times the coaches are trying to protect him by limiting the playbook. We didnt need Jevan to carry the team Saturday.. He just didnt need to turn it over.. IMO we could have scored 14 and won if we didnt turn it over.. That has nothing to do with the booing.. I didnt boo for what its worth but would have loved to see somebody at least 1 series to try to get jevans head on straight.

Sigh...short memories.... I could take to a few games in which eli struggled.... and archie for that matter too. AND.... the last 6 games that Jevan played last year were about as fine of a job any QB has ever done in the HISTORY of Ole Miss... What did he throw... 26 TD's to 4 or 5 INTs? Pretty hard to beat that...and the reason for preseason recognition. I know it is really frustrating....but, the guy has too much talent to just give up on him....and that what you guys are talking about.... giving up. If Jevan comes back and plays well the 2nd half of the season...some of you guys are going to feel kinda foolish.

You are acting like people want him to fail.. I dont think anybody on this board wants him to struggle but he is struggling some kind of bad right now.. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said I can think of a "few" games where Eli struggled. Eli's and Jevans teams are totally different to accurately compare them imagine Eli on Jevan's current team and Jevan on Eli's teams from the past... I dont think people are seeing the how important Mike Wallace was to Jevan last year.. Take away a guy that was giving you over 20 yards a catch and you have to be a better qb.. Its easy for most guys to throw a deep ball to guys that are faster than everybody else on the field... I think Mike Wallace is proving Jevan was more a product of him than he of Jevan. I hope my memory is not too short because I teach history and try to remember the past...

not taking up for Snead or Nutt or the offense...but comparing last year's cotton crop to this years is futile. We lose players, the other teams lose players...the other team has depth to replace them...we get new coaches they get new coaches...you can only base this team on this team's talent and depth compared to the competition (and coaches etc) also officiating (couple of bad breaks at SC, but a better team overcomes it). wind direction, ball bounces and grit. One factor not in play is who was on Eli's team or the teams he played against.

ruready,

There are freshman qb's playing better than Snead. And now because people boo, they are also fat? How old are you?

I never said I wanted Snead to fail. Just b/c someone boos, it doesn't mean they are giving up or want someone to fail. That's moronic. Usually when someone boos, it means they are not happening with the current state of things and want them to get better. Yep, that sounds like giving up and wanting Snead to fail.

Come to think of it. I don't think I booed either. But I think someone has the right to do so without being called the worst fan.

And just b/c I'm not happy with Snead doesn't mean I'm giving up on him. I saw the last 6 games last year. I know what he's capable of. But he's not playing up to his abilities. I'll boo if I want.

Good thing I'm not a mod.
