As bad as we've played much of this season, we're 3 Wins away from a big payout versus a Big 10 (Iowa, Ohio State, or Penn State) team in Florida. With the Winner of the SEC Championship playing for a national title, that puts the loser in the Sugar Bowl (Again) and leaves the Capital One bowl open for our Ole Miss Rebels. If we win out, both LSU and Ole Miss have 3 SEC loses and we will have the advantage. Before everyone thinks I'm crazy continue reading...

The promo for Michael Oher's story The Blind Side says "The odds of playing in the NFL is 1 in 1 million..." And I realize the odds of Ole Miss winning out is considerably lower than that. Though it is mathematically improbable, it is still slightly possible. Heck, we will be favored in 2 of the next 3 games.

Nutt's teams always get that one big upset per season, and we haven't had that yet, so LSU should be a lock, right? That means we need to win the 2 we're supposed to and pull off the upset next weekend.

The bad news for us is that even one more loss pushes us WAY down the bowl pecking order! With the SEC standings where they are now, I expect there to be a lot of 4 loss SEC teams at the end of the season. SC already has 4 losses, and Auburn will lose to Alabama for their 4th loss... But if someone else beats us, we'll be playing in December and not January.

If we lose even one more game (and we likely will) we'll jump from 3 in the bowl pecking order to 7 or worse!

It sux, but without a lot of help we're looking at a Capital One bowl, or the Music City... nothing much in between.

Hotty Toddy, and let's get off our A$$ and play some football!

now I know you are just trying to be optimistic. Unless we see something in the next two games that we have not seen all year, I am very afraid that we will get to the MSU game needing the 7th win just to be bowl eligible.
Even a bad day as a Rebel is better than a good day with the dawgs!!!!

Besides Bama/Fla, SEC really lacks that 3rd and 4th really good teams. LSU might be that, Auburn maybe and OM/UT could eventually work there way into that claim.

Problem is, everyone one of the before mentioned teams have a bad loss or two. Even LSU because of how poorly they looked against UF at home.

The league is good once again this year but, we do lack some top shelf depth. Lot of middle of the pack depth this year. Lot of teams will finish with 6-8 wins.
done

I will amend your hope by one game...

I would prefer 3 straight wins and a date with the Little 12 at Jerry World.

Those Florida bowl games bore me to tears...don't tell me about the money difference...by the time you divi the money up among the conference the difference is negligible and probably eaten up by increased travel expenses of Florida vs Dallas..

Cotton please..

But first we need to win Saturday.....or we may be visiting Caddo Parrish instead of Dallas County..or worse yet staying in Lafayette County...

Like your enthusiasm and hope, but to project us to any bowl, right now, is a bit premature. We have shown no offensive consistency this season, not only from game to game, but series to series, and will be going up against 2 fairly talented and stout defenses. Plus the D, over the last three games, has consistently allowed recievers to run free against us, and all year have had issues against the run. The next three games are tough, even State, so let's take the ole cliche by the horns and take it one game at a time. Right now I am just praying we are bowl eligible before the Egg Bowl.

a little more real down to earth bowl list.

All of it changes though with one win Saturday. So lets hope for the best.

Yep, this is where I would put my money at this point.

But, what do I know I had the Phillies in six.

True, but luckiliy for the league, we've got the SEC officiating crew protecting that upper tier.

I agree, but I can't see any scenerio where that's possible. If we had beat Auburn there would be a lot more flexibility that could put us in the Cotton bowl with 2 out of 3 wins. 3 straight Wins at this point puts us in the Capital One bowl.

Don't read into my statement that much enthusiasm. I'm just saying if we win out we're in the Capital One Bowl. One loss and the bowl picture get's much worse. I did say the odds of us winning out were less than 1 in 1 million.

I think that in this economy, the Bowls are likely to give strong consideration to geographic proximity. So if Jevan has three good games and we win them all, my money (and my hope) is on Cotton.

I would say they are 50/50.....flip a coin...on one side have good Jevan, on the other side have bad Jevan! 8)
