Fresno game has some upset potential.....

I was reading the fresno state game review on http://www.nems360.com/pages/insideolemisssports, and he makes some good points on how this should be the first true test of the season. Fresno returns a thousand yard rusher and a qb that threw for 19 tds and 11 ints last season. They also pride themselves as being giant killers, they narrowly missed out on upsetting wisconsin last year and year in and year out usually upset a team they aren't supposed to.The key will be to keep their offense off the field and to have our offense go on long sustained drives. And score of course. Success for our team this season absolutely depends on us starting out 5-0 before we go to alabama because it gets really tough after that. Add in trips to arkansas, ut, and lsu, starting out 5-0 may be our only shot at finishing up at 7-5 with a young offense. If we could do that, and maybe get one upset win against one of those 3 teams to finish 8-4, it would be a successful season considering its supposed to be a down year.

Nutt has only lost 4 regular season nonconference games in 12 years. Southern cal twice, Texas once, and Wake forest with his new team new system new quarterback, with several defensive players hurt.
Nutt's not losing to fresno .forget it

I agree, if we did lose this game it would be because our defense didn't show up to play. Our defense should be good enough to keep us in most of the games we play this season. I'm a little hesitant to say that our d is going to be great only because of the secondary and being young at one of our end positions. Coach nix also said he doesn't know why everyones so hot on his d because of the youngsters. He was probably just being modest though, it would be unlike him to come out and say "well hell yeah were going to shut down everyone!"
TNix is not loose with his praises 8) and we r young on the back end but should have a good pass rush which will help em out..xpect good things from Sawyer 2jrebel87 wrote:I agree, if we did lose this game it would be because our defense didn't show up to play. Agreed... remember they don't play Defense in their conference and they will be facing one of the top 3-5 Defenses in the nation that day. No they don't, http://www.nfl.com/draft/2010/profiles/ ... ?id=497188jrebel87 wrote:I was reading the fresno state game review on http://www.nems360.com/pages/insideolemisssports, and he makes some good points on how this should be the first true test of the season. Ryan Matthews, who rushed for 1808 yards last year was selected 12 overall by the San Diego Chargers
don't question my knowledge
Excellent point. But, his teams usually struggle with the good mid major's in these wins. Meaning, they are usually close games. Fresno is always a tough out and this should be a highly competitive game. Still think OM pulls it out but it will be a scrapper.delusionalthug wrote:Nutt has only lost 4 regular season nonconference games in 12 years. My bad i misread the article, their 1800 yd rusher is not going to be back. This is still going to be a slugfest though, this will not be a easy win and this will either make or break our season because if we win we will have loads of confidence going into the kentucky game. If we lose, the opposite happens. We absolutely have to be 5-0 before playing bama if we want to win 8 games.
