Thought the article doesn't state it, I believe the overall proposal also included language about no longer allowing greyshirts starting with the 2012 recruiting cycle.
I am not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, coaches will have to put a higer emphasis on making sure the guys they recruit will get in, which could translate into a lot less angst come August. On the other, a lot of kids who have the ability to play will likely be left in the cold by SEC teams if there is any doubt they will get in.
Of course the whole point of this was to stop oversigning, but if a school, in January, only has 16 available scholarship spots, isn't signing 25 still oversigning?
also, no more 1-yr transfers, ala Masoli and the Maye kid who just enrolled at State.
25-signee limit now in place in the SEC
