I think if the new hc wants him he should stay. If not then he should be taken care of for handling the transition.

How has he handled transition? Nutt Sack has been allowed to drive the program straight to hell! Im with you though Chuck. No head coach should be forced to retain a coach that he is not comfortable with. Kind of like no AD should be forced to hire a coach he doesn't want. The fact that we are hiring a head coach before an AD just proves that Ole Miss leadership still doesn't get it. You can bet that will enter atleast one coaching candidates mind.

Hope he stays, but that depends on how he and the new HC connect. GB may prefer another situation.
think the transition begins with Nutts departure and Brewer's liaising with the potential recruits

That is what I was saying.

I like Gunter and was excited when we hired him. However, I hope the new coach hires the best assistant coaches availible (in our budget) for every position. If that means no more Brewer, I can live with that. Gunter's official title is associate head coach/passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach.
With Gunter in that role, we are 2-9 and our lack of a passing game has been much of the problem. I realize that Brewer didn't recruit the QB's or WR's he has to work with, but they haven't seemed to improve or even get on the same page under his leadership.
The Rebel side of me wants to keep him on staff, but the reality is there are better options (for his current job title) out there. It would be nice if he were offered some type of position to keep him on staff, but it may not be best for either him or Ole Miss.

Nicholas Brassel
Donte Moncreif
Tobias Singleton
These guys are are very good recivers and true freshman true they may not have been able to cary the
offense but we also did not have a QB with any skills so calling the passing game a failure is not completely true.
there is some young talent on this team it just has no leadership and with the right head coach they can win

The freshman receivers are better than anybody else on the team. How about you let Bradley Sowell block for ya and toss a few passes. I don't want him to stay or go onmy account, but he has done something with his receivers, unlike all other positions except ..to some degree, our DB's.

He's not just the WR coach, folks! What all responsibility does the "passing game coordinator" have? I stand by my statement that we had no passing game this year. Gunter may be a great WR coach if that's his only job. Though there is not enough hard evidence from this season to say he's the best availible option.
I don't want a head coach to walk into this train wreck saying, "Gee, let's see what I can salvage from the current coaches.". I want a guy who says, "I want the best availible option to fill these shoes."
I posted last night and stand by this statement:
There is not a SINGLE coach on the UM sideline that deserves to be back next year.
Not one single coach was making an effort to motivate our team, Brewer included. We lay down as a team (players & coaches) and let MSU walk all over us for 60 minutes!
Unacceptable!!!
