Has to be better than what we had.
Just another day being better than State.
we cant lure over a single assistant coordinator from another school? fml
im only on board with this for the sake of fanbase unity. ill be a believer when we go bowling with 6 wins consistently like ive been promised.

We Are Ole Miss
My ratings, for what they are worth:
Wommack-- C-. He has a lot of experience. Some of that is in the SEC, but his defenses have not done well in the SEC and so-so at other stops except the Sun Belt.
Harris-- A-. People don't understand the importance of the Tight End to SEC offenses well enough. Harris is a good Tight End Coach. We will see how good he is at recruiting coordinator. He does have some contacts that help. He has worked at Ole Miss before and loves the school.
Kiffin-- B. He learned under Orgeron. Although I was disgusted with Orgeron as a head coach, he does understand dline. Kiffin does not have much experience but from what I can see he looks pretty good. I just hope that his personality is more like his father's than his brother's.
Allen-- D. The SEC is linebacker country. Allen is tremendously lacking in experience and it is questionable whether his experience can translate to SEC success. In his defense, his linebackers did well at Lambuth and A State, but that is so far from SECland that I worry about this one. As with Freeze, I do not rate the hire low because he is bad, but because we just don't know. It is a big risk to take at such a key position. With that, big risks sometimes pay off big. He will certainly have some good clay to work with. Marry, Bryant, Johnson, Shackleford, Kight. We have potential of having an awesome linebacking corps. Here's hoping that Allen is up to the task.
Overall not awful hires, but I would like to have seen a coordinator that has shown more success in the SEC and a more experienced linebacker coach. I am anxiously awaiting news of the offensive coordinator, line coach and S&C coach.

my somewhat downgraded goals for our FB program as followsmpzreb17 wrote:we cant lure over a single assistant coordinator from another school? fml

competence (hoping to see a large step in this direction 2012 season)
consistency (again signs hoped for this coming season)
respect( beginning in 2-3 yrs)
podunk bowls and winning them (2-3ish yrs)
compete with the big programs and win on occasion/ beat the mid/lower tier as expected (3-4 years?)
NYD bowls/BCS (4-5 yrs)
win the west/SECG (5- 6 yrs)
Reload as we go along is a must to achieve any of the above, which requires excellent recruiting skills which I think Freeze has. There is hope - a little anyway

I would be will to settle for a program on a steady incline and a coach that will still be here after 4 years.
Just another day being better than State.
Womack is not someone I think too highly of. He was terrible at Arkansas (so bad Nutt let him go). He then was ran off by Ga Tech. I don't schematically he's very solid and I don't think recruiting wise he's that great either. He was kind of a shotgun hire at DC for Ark and we couldn't wait to get rid of him. The last year he was here, our Def was putrid.
Seems to be a good person and such. But, I don't believe in his capabilities as a DC.

I heard an interesting argument in Las Vegas this morning.
"When you bring in a winning set of coaches up from a lower talent pool recruiting school, if they're able to recruit on the caliber of the conference, together they will win in the conference."
Any thoughts on that or is it some yankee sounding garbage to the rest of yall too?

I believe its true, most of the time, they also SHOULD win more, being that they are able to get better players. Going into a house saying Hi Im the head of the Ohio State Buckeyes, means more to a kid than if you say, Hi Im the head coach of the Akron Zips. Just gotta put the work in, and go after big time recruits, make them tell you no. Id rather a 5 star kid tell me No, then go into a Two Stars house and get a yes. you can get those two stars from Juco route all day long.
Pain Dont HURT!
Sounds reasonable to me.bleuwolfe wrote:my somewhat downgraded goals for our FB program as followsmpzreb17 wrote:we cant lure over a single assistant coordinator from another school? fml

Again, Womack's bio says he has 31 years of collegiate coaching experience. Impressive, right? How did he end up at Arkansas State after 31 years. Can't be that good. This is the worst addition to the staff so far IMO.JustBlues wrote:My ratings, for what they are worth:

Some Random Dude
think its true if 1)he has the staff to develop the talent thats been recruited 2) the right scheme 3) the ability to make adjusts per opponent/and at half timempzreb17 wrote:I heard an interesting argument in Las Vegas this morning.
