An interview with Freeze. I like that he won't take the bait and sink to Mullen's level.

After reading this, I am now 100% behind.... I'm just kidding.
I do think he gets it, though. He understands the hole we're in and I think he'll work his butt off to get us out. Whether he can or not remains to be seen. I also think he knows that a lot of folks feel the way RebChuck, JustBlues, myself, etc., do about his hiring. I hope that motivates him.

he indicated when he was first hired that he recognized that his amount of experience would be questioned. From what I can tell, I think that he knows that due to the thin resume he will have to prove himself.lewindha wrote:An interview with Freeze. Good interview.
He didn't sugar coat it. I like the honesty.
I can't decide if I like the former Rebs on the staff. Heard, I don't know much about his coaching ability. In fact, before this hire, I didn't know he was coaching. Luke, I don't think I'm that crazy about. Didn't he throw Ole Miss under the bus when Nutt decided not to keep him on staff?
I definitely like the idea of having some former Rebs who love Ole Miss and are passionate about helping us win. I'm excited about the possibility of Deuce joining on any capacity. I'm just not sure about the other two. At this point, though, we're giving Freeze a shot, no reason not to give Heard one.

Good article, and I believe he will work harder than the last guy and hopefully harder than the other guys. Eventually hopefully he learns how to work smarter than the other guys, and wins us some football games in the SEC.
Let's just say I considered not coming back to the board after being banned, but it wasn't due to you guys. I have never been banned from somewhere before and you know I felt a little proud of it!

My biggest concerns after Freeze are Werner and Wommack.....if it is Bo Wallace that Werner is working with I am less concerned with Werner...not because of my apparently unnatural preference for taller quarterbacks, but because I think he more closely resembles the quarterbacks Werner has had success with, particularly in his Miami days (which is to my knowledge the only place he has had success).
But even those concerns are conflicting to me because Wommack and Werner are also the only ones on the staff who I think have substantial experience. The whole thing is just really confusing to me to be honest. It will be interesting to say the least how it all works out. If I didn't have so much vested in this program just as a spectator it would be an interesting phenomenon to watch. As it is, it just scares the heebie jeebies out of me.
I just so badly don't want to be back here again in a few years analyzing what went wrong. That is all. Or worse yet, waiting three years to determine if it is going wrong.
Hope it turns out to be a smashing success.

Agreed...I think the last guy started out working hard (to prove some pigs wrong).....but I think he got lazy and started looking for shortcuts.StrongRebel wrote:Good article, and I believe he will work harder than the last guy and hopefully harder than the other guys. I think this is where we agree the most. I am not a huge fan of the hires for one neither Dan or Matt have run his type of system so I thought those were bad hires for that reason, but I do prefer ex-players to get their feet significantly wet somewhere else now I know this contradicts my points on Freeze's lack of experience, but I believe his head coaching experience is vastly more than he is given credit for. I will agree with the committee you know a leader when you see him, and I believe Freeze for all his lacking is a leader and hard worker so hopefully that will translate for Ole Miss.lewindha wrote:I can't decide if I like the former Rebs on the staff. But we are going to have to step it up because even our competition who is supposed to be a smaller programs have by doubling the recruiting budgets http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120 ... |FRONTPAGE
like that they told the Oline that if they didn't get into shape, they'd fine players who would- THANK YOU!
Training table has started - not b4 time and a nutritionist is part of the program for all sports now - again about time!!
btw saw Massie and Bolden are invited to the combine = GL to both!!

Yeah, I won't rehash my thoughts on Wommack. But, I'm not crazy him.Rebchuck18 wrote:My biggest concerns after Freeze are Werner and Wommack.....if it is Bo Wallace that Werner is working with I am less concerned with Werner...not because of my apparently unnatural preference for taller quarterbacks, but because I think he more closely resembles the quarterbacks Werner has had success with, particularly in his Miami days (which is to my knowledge the only place he has had success).

Now this is the kind of thread I'm talking about. It's cool to have your resversations and doubts. It's cool not to like a certain hire. All I'm asking is just get behind the program, and support it. Now if things don't start improving after so long, THEN, and only then go get the bucket and rope. If Freeze doesn't kick start this program soon, I'll be at the head demanding he leave. But I really think he can do the job. Of course what I think we'll get u as far as we all know it will, about 2 steps backward. But please everyone, give our HC a chance and support him and the team. HOTTY TODDY to one and all.

Just to clarify, you can support while questioning. I have never had a bucket or rope. I will be cheering as hard as anyone come kickoff. I am even going to do my best to make the 12 plus hour drive for the Spring Game to see how Wallace and some others look in person.

If I sat perfectly still on my couch, naked, eating pudding through a straw, drinking beer directly from a keg tapped right next to the couch and expelling waste through a series of catheters and rectal tubes, I would be working harder than "the last guy".StrongRebel wrote:Good article, and I believe he will work harder than the last guy

I appreciated his honesty. I hope we get the 80-90% to "buy -in" and committ to working harder.
Even a bad day as a Rebel is better than a good day with the dawgs!!!!
