The game is now history. But I remember this spot and yelling about it.
Just sayin'....

Fans of other teams are frequently called paranoid about the favorable calls 'Bama always seems to get. Particularly when there's something crucial at stake such as a first down, a TD, or a reversal of good fortune for the other team.

They are good at what they do. What they do is help the ranked teams. Of course, OK State got beat by a bad call against TX The head official apologized.AggFaithful wrote:That is crazy.. I've heard the SEC referees suck

Oh, I saw that when it happened. And if I am not mistaken, the ref who got the ball and moved it to the center of the field moved it forward a little more also.
After this cheating, my mouth hit the floor when we got that fumble call to go our way after the interception. You know, the one where Scott grabbed it before he jumped out of bounds.
Also, after J. Scott grabbed that fumble and went out of bounds, I believe it was him also who tried to tell the ref on the sideline who was spotting the ball that the Bama player fumbled and he recovered. The ref looked at him and said
could read his lips), "No you didn't!", as if to say "Shut up, you're just trying to get the ball." So, If I could meet that ref, I would tell him a nice "Up yours, A-hole! Guess Jeff was right and you were wrong........ A-hole!"

I, too, was floored when we got the fumble call reversed. But there was a big difference in that call and the one where 'Bama's receiver was ruled not having control of the ball/out of bounds in the end zone. The ESPN announcers ran the tape several times and correctly assessed that there was definitely no evidence to overturn the ruling of incomplete pass. Instead, the ruling was overturned and 'Bama was given the TD. Makes you wonder what the game would have been like if that hadn't gone their way and the blocks in the back on their kickoff return TD had been called. Big swing, folks, big swing.
Ole Miss actually had a chance to win that game, and that's why I'm so optimistic about the rest of our season.

I do love the video. When in question just spot the ball right next to the first down marker.

I keep watching this clip over and over.....it's like a train wreck. I too was flabbergasted when the fumble recovered by Jeff Scott was ruled our ball. I would have bet the farm it was Bammer ball....and that Bama TD was a joke.

Well, since it's history now, we can try to see the humor in it. Try this, folks: Referee who 'respotted' that ball and gave 'Bama the first down thinking to himself after looking back: "Oh, wait, this is 'Bama's possesion. That must be the first down marker over yonder a yard down the field. What was I thinking spotting it short and forcing 'Bama to kick! Duh! Sorry, Commissioner Slive!"
