All that tells me is that the SEC is a tough baseball conference.

Below is what Louisville has done since 2007 (hiring McDonnell) and what we have done since 2007 (losing McDonnell).
Louisville:
CWS appearances - 1
Super Regional appearances - 2
Regional appearances - 6 (including this year)
Super Regional hosts - 1
Regional hosts - 3 (including this year most likely)
Ole Miss:
CWS appearances - 0
Super Regional appearances - 2
Regional appearances - 6 (including this year)
Super Regional hosts - 1
Regional hosts - 2 (not hosting this year)
Now, it's fair to say that those resumes are almost identical, with a slight nod to Louisville in CWS appearances (1 to 0) and regional hosts (3 to 2) assuming they host this year as they are projected to do.
I think any rational fan would agree that it is easier to recruit to Ole Miss than Louisville due to the support our program receives, the stadium, the amount of talent geographically close to our campus, and the tradition we had built prior to 2007 when this period started.
Does anyone disagree that McDonnell's Louisville performance coupled with the timing of our downward trend tend to suggest that McDonnell, NOT Bianco was the key to a lot of our early success?

u can never judge a book by how it chews its food
Since O'Connor is one of the first calls I would make after firing Bianco, here goes the comparison, using 2009 forward since we met in the 2009 Super Regional:
Virginia:
CWS appearances - 2
Super Regional appearances - 3
Regional appearances - 5
Super Regional hosts - 2 (both as national seeds)
Regional hosts - 4 (assuming a host this year and a 3rd national seed in 5 years)
Ole Miss:
CWS appearances - 0
Super Regional appearances - 1
Regional appearances - 4
Super Regional hosts - 1

Sounds great. What if he turns it down? Have you ever been to Charlottesville? It's pretty freakin' nice.
I like you guys' confidence that we can get that caliber of coach easily. But, what if we don't? I don't think we should trade 11 of 13 postseasons for an up-and-comer.
Chase over at Rivals posted something about scholarships. I don't think any of our players are on a full ride. I don't know all the details, but he was explaining how a schools like LSU don't have the same restrictions. Maybe Louisville doesn't either. I'll try to dig that post up somewhere and paraphrase it later on. Probably won't be today.

Yes and I'd also say that AK has been to more NCAA tourneys since his Assistant with Latino connections came aboard. Sounds to me line it isn't AK who got us to the dance.Does anyone disagree that McDonnell's Louisville performance coupled with the timing of our downward trend tend to suggest that McDonnell, NOT Bianco was the key to a lot of our early success?

Once again, how does any aspect of basketball get us out of the mediocre mess we've been in with Bianco for the last four years?

I don't know if O'Conner would come. He's got a pretty nice gig at UVA and they have money.
