After watching the BYU game, it is obvious that we should run and can run against Texas. BYU gained over yards on the ground. Jeff Scott, run, run run. We can whip Texas and then surprise ALABAMA!!!

I will be in Section 2, row 29, seat 7&8 at DKR Stadium on Saturday, please come by and say hotty toddy to me and Mama. She has been sick for 3 1/2 years, and this is the first game back. We live in Texas!!

I will be there as well. Cannot wait.

However, this game continues to scare me a lil. The O we run is not all that rush friendly in the way that BYU exposed the 'Horns. The kids we have are understanding of the winning attitude, but the ambiance in Austin is something different.

I think that factor does help us, in that should we pull out a victory, other road affairs may not be quite as daunting.

Still, I do not expect the run game to be all that explosive. We will be more likely to dink and dunk with the passing game. Essentially "running" the ball. If we can do that, we have a pretty good chance to get a lil revenge for the whooping we took a season ago.

We absolutely must use the quick passing game. We don't have the size and physicality of BYU or rugby players at running back. But we can still score on Texas with OUR offense. We must be good at what we do best. But what the BYU game showed was how to slow down Texas' offense... I have been saying it for two years until I am blue on the face... Pressure David Ash!

with Itavius well to give some variety to our running game, I believe that we can run just as effectively against them as BYU did even if it looks a little different than BYU's running game. As far as pressure, we have to do something to keep our weakness in the defensive backfield from being exposed that's for sure. If our defense only does ok, we shoule win this one going away. Texas is in extreme disarray on the defensive side of the ball.

by the way, Ash at last notice was questionable for this weekend as he suffered a ding to the head Saturday and is being evaluated.

Ash or McCoy the key is to pressure them. Texas is circling the bowl and they are very beatable. We just need to do what we do best and that isn't a power running attack

For the most part, BYU's running attack wasn't a power running attack. It was a zone read option attack, fueled by a hurry-up offense that kept Texas off balance. Although our zone read looks a little different than BYU's, the zone read option happens to be what we do best and our players have more experience with the hurry-up than BYU's players do. It may be a tough game with a fired up Texas team, but the BYU film certainly should give our coaches what they need to prepare.

I expect you will see Barry in the backfield more this week, and they may even run some wild rebel/zone read with him and put Bo out at receiver through the use of shifts, but that will be after he is already in the game. I expect a lot of motion especially now that a new DC is at Texas. He won't be able to change the defense that much so he will be working on new packages for the zone read so if I was Hugh I would give them some new looks and lots of shifts.

Especially now that everyone (those who just eat chicken at the tailgate and are experts on what is the best flask for the game) knows that if Bo goes down for more than a series or two expect a freshman to come in. They won't be as timid with trying to keep Barry from taking carries because Hugh knows now that he can't rely on Barry running the offense for more than a quarter if Bo takes a shot.

I think brunetti as a Rb would be a perfect addition for this game. I also think that Bo could run for 60 yards himself against this team because the "read" is so much more effective when he is in because of the legitimate threat of the pass.

You are on the money.. It really wouldnt shock me to see Barry get extended time. BYUs QB looked below average throwing the football and really was not blazing fast, and did not look overly smooth.. Gotta check their oil with Barry early to see if there is anything left of the 550 they got put on them the week before... I think we will see a lot of motions.. Advantage is our offensive staff, becuase the D coordinator cannot get too creative in a week.. Coverages should be simple.. Expect them to load the box, could be a big day for us offensively..... We need to grab an early lead to see if they will implode...
