Maybe they should concentrate on making their team look like an SEc team instead of making their unis look like CUSA or Arena League

Mizzou has yet to show me they truly understand what the SEC is all about. It's like they wandered into the room drunk and still haven't gotten over the hangover weeks later.
Enough already with being mad over uniform changes. Thing can't stay the same forever and they shouldn't . I'm ecstatic we have more uniform options at our disposable now . Want to know why? Because our old uniforms became synonymous with losing. I hate to break it to everyone but ever since we adopted those most recent uniforms we haven't been lights out on the field . It's okay to change things up sometimes.

My reaction was simply "players would immediately be wrapping that reflective silver facemask with black tape..."

You can't seriously correlate the best unis in football to losing. That's as ridiculous as blaming the Grove. Of course winning is more important ( to a degree...which Maryland exceeds) but we can still win and have cool, classy unis.jrebel87 wrote:Enough already with being mad over uniform changes. And in the last decade we have had different teams win 9, 9 and 10 in those unis!
Your right RebChuck, we did have 3 pretty good seasons. Three good seasons out of an entire decade. The problem is people tend to forget that when we became as bad as we were in between those seasons. We needed a fresh start, and these uniforms somewhat help that. Look, I love the classic uniforms. We kept that classic look, we only added a few changes that we will occasionally wear to away games. That doesn't mean we "sold out" or joined the Arena league. It just means we did something that will excite current and future rebel football players.

I couldn't disagree with you more. Unis don't win or lose games. The fresh start we were looking for came in the form of Hugh Freeze. Because having a good head coach and staff is what wins games. We lost in our traditional unis (not consistently, however) because we made some bad coaching hires. Had this insane, Power Ranger, uni crap existed two decades ago and had we made any changes as a result, we still would have lost the way we did.jrebel87 wrote:Your right RebChuck, we did have 3 pretty good seasons. What should and does excite Rebel players is 1) the opportunity to play and win in the SEC for a coach who will develop them and get them noticed at 2) the most beautiful campus in the nation (recently voted so) with state-of-the-art facilities and 3) the family-like atmosphere that is truly different from huge, impersonal football factories.
According to Chuck, there were Texas fans in the stands that asked him during the game what had happened to our unis. Our classic look is recognizable anywhere. Those Penn State white pants looked terrible and generic, and I can't imagine who would be excited by them. We don't have to mimic some Nike, Adidas, etc. PR sales pitch and insist it's the players who have to have this in order to come to and play at Ole Miss.
We looked awful in those unis in the Texas game. Didn't have to look that way. This deliberate experimentation with video game, pajama unis across the country is juvenile and ugly. Don't like it, don't support it, and it's nonsense!
Bottom line is Freeze thinks this will be a positive for our program. So either get on board or try and bring in a new coach, since the one we have now yall seem to have some problems with.
u can never judge a book by how it chews its food
I'm totally lost. Freeze things that missouri introducing black helmets with silver facemasks will be a positive for our program? Because missouri introduced black helmets with silver facemasks we should get rid of Freeae?rebeljim wrote:Bottom line is Freeze thinks this will be a positive for our program. Then I guess u are totally lost. Nothing was said about Mo.'s black helmet. I said Freeze must think the unis we're trying now is a positive for us, or he wouldn't be doing it. The normal few are complaining about the inis and complaining about the schedule. Complain, complain, complain. When does the complaining stop, and the supporting begin? Either support the coach we have, or lobby for one that u won't complain about, if that's even possible.JustBlues wrote:I'm totally lost. hm, on my computer, this thread is about missouri's helmets.rebeljim wrote:Then I guess u are totally lost. Nothing was said about Mo.'s black helmet. Ya know it IS possible to not agree with EVERYTHING Freeze is doing and not want him fired/replaced or whatever.
I am in the camp that thinks players don't care about 50 different uni combinations. A player may like our uniforms or colors or something. But if a player decided he doesn't want to come to Ole Miss b/c of our uniforms, that's probably not the kind of player/person Freeze wants in his program.
I didn't like the all white at Texas. Didn't mind the white shirt/blue pants at Vandy. And I pray I never, ever see the blue pant/red jersey combo that reminds me of Texas Tech or Arizona.
None of this makes me want Freeze gone. Jim, you gotta get off this support everything or nothing boat. By your logic, because I'm not crazy about the uni changes, I'm not supporting the team.
I just bought two season tickets for the first time in my life, even though I probably won't be able to make but one, maybe two games. I drove to Nashville and spent 150 on hotel room and 150 on two tickets. I just spent about 1200(to my wife's dismay) on a trip to Texas. Right now, b/c my friends say I have to go to Bama b/c I've been to every away game this year and we've won, I'm trying like hell to get my wife to let me drive down to Tuscaloosa just for the game and drive back.
People can support a school program and not like EVERYTHING that is going on.

Couldn't have said it better. Not liking uni experimentation is a good fan's right. No way in hell do I want Freeze gone. Never said so and never will. But nobody can make me like white pants, or blue pants with red jerseys, etc. I support CHF--he will make us continually relevant. Just not on board with the decision (whoever made it) to do this tinkering.lewindha wrote:Ya know it IS possible to not agree with EVERYTHING Freeze is doing and not want him fired/replaced or whatever.

And, BTW, there are lots of us on this board who disagree on certain aspects of being a Rebel fan and the various programs. Eric and I don't see eye-to-eye on Bianco and Bjork's refusal to fire him last year. I don't like 'Dixie,' and didn't like 'Colonel Reb.' But those that do and did are entitled to disagree and I know they love Ole Miss.
Bottom line: this uni crap is totally unnecessary, and I hope it runs its course as more and more fans complain about the crappy looks.
U can voice your displeasure about something, but to do it every day, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over gets really old. Bottom line, we have all the unis, and we're going to wear those unis. So either pull for us or don't, but your whinning over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over ain't doing any good. I know yall in the negative nellie fan club don't realize it, but yalls complaining get very old. I'd hate to live in a world where all u do is *beep*. Get out, enjoy the sunshine, listen to the birds, and quit your dead gum whinning.lewindha wrote:Ya know it IS possible to not agree with EVERYTHING Freeze is doing and not want him fired/replaced or whatever.
