9th in the nation, I kid you not:

http://cfn.scout.com/2/1340297.html

Do I think that we are the ninth best team in the nation? No. However, I do think that we are better than a handful of teams in the mainstream top 25 rankings. I do understand the reason that a team with three losses is not appearing in those rankings right now, however, even though its a team that has a particularly brutal schedule and has only lost to very highly ranked teams.

I think we are a top 25 team but I don't care that we aren't ranked right now. If we take care of business we have the opportunity to be a top 15 team by year end.

Yep. And a win against Mizzou would really help. Run the table, get a good bowl opponent (in a good bowl), and we could be close to cracking the top 10. That would, indeed, be sweet to set us up for next year!

If I had a vote in any poll, I would look at a team's body of work, particularly who they had played to get their won-loss record. Last year, for instance, Notre Dame was not only a team unworthy of the National Title game, I don't even think they were a Top Ten team, even though they were undefeated.

I agree that Ole Miss needs to take care of business one game at a time from here on out, and if they do that, the ranking will come. But, I also agree with Jeff Sagarin that Ole Miss has played the #1 most difficult schedule in the nation so far. To have a 5-3 record against 4 teams ranked in the Top Twelve in that group and coming within an eyelash of being 6-2 would be good enough for me to rank Ole Miss in the Top Twenty-five.

I was pleased to see that the C-L's Ole Miss beat reporter, Hugh Kellenberger, had Ole Miss on his ballot somewhere around 21st last week, using the same reasoning I used above.

A win against Idaho does absolutely nothing to move that needle. A win against Arky won't do much for it either. Mizzou game will.

I believe that we are a top 25 team, but I doubt we will be ranked until after the arkansas game, in which case I expect us to be somewhere around the 23rd.
Our real big test will be vs Mizzou though, big game on senior night.

Maybe I'm having a humongous brain fart, but why are there 2 bye weeks? Don't remember this in the past.....

it's the first year of it. The NCAA added a week to the season this year.

Really. It makes us seriously question your priorities. How could anyone not have college football as their number one priority?

I agree in principle, but another win (ever vs Arky) with our resume and we are in the top 25! No doubt. Mizzou win moves us up a little, but realistically I think we would have to win out and win the bowl game to finish top 15 as some have suggested is possible.

I don't like it! Maybe the coaches and players do, but we sure slowed down offensively after our first bye week. Let's hope it doesn't happen again!
