Why we haven't seen more of Mark Dodson? Why he didn't play against LSU or Auburn?

Bad handle on blocking schemes I believe.

I was waiting for this... No doubt the guy can run, but you have to have perspective in judging his performance.. This was against the blue hose.. I don't think he was touched on the first run, and I know he was never touched on the 2nd.. They were simple trap plays. I actually thought wilkins was just as good, if not better. Dodson basically had to clear lb and it was house. Don't get me wrong, he did his job perfectly, and I am not trying to poo poo that, but our lack in a running game has been 99.9% on the O line. Would not have mattered if we had AP when he is getting stroked at the LOS. There were some major shifts in the O line, but it was a good running day.. Lets hope they can get it rolling because we will need it against the last 2...

Ok, but still doesn't explain why he hasn't gotten more touches.

Dodson has been good carrying the ball. I don't believe he quite understands his blocking assignments yet. At least, that's what other folks are saying.

But you don't have to worry about blocking when you have the ball, right?

Wilkens was even better. He finished with 10 carries for 171 yards.

I think they'll be good but let's not forget how bad the blue hose are.

No, Just making a point. Why does a RB 40 pounds lighter get more carries (Walton)? Particularly up the middle? If he doesn't understand blocking, you should be able to coach that.

Sure if you want everyone in the stadium to know we are going to run the ball. If he can't block, then we are one dimensional. Doesn't matter how good a runner he is. Every coach ever will tell you that you can't carry the rock if you don't block. Knowing the scheme is a necessity. If he is in to run, and they load the box, Bo should audible to a pass. Now, Dodson has to block and if he doesn't know the scheme and blows a block, Bo gets sacked and all the armchair coaches start screaming our O line sucks and we need a new O line coach or that Freeze is calling a horrible game.

It appears that this one is just not happy unless there's something to complain about. Nothing to complain about? Then he pulls something out of his butt to complain about.
