I listen to many of the national sports talk shows when I travel on business. This week's topic seems to be that Ole Miss and State should be condemned for playing Presbyterian and UT-Martin rather than a 'decent' team. I won't bother to defend State's OOC schedule, but at least one of the talking heads on the show I was listening to had the honesty to point out that at the end of the season, Ole Miss will have victories over three probable champions of other leagues: ULL in the Sunbelt, Boise State in the Mountain West, and Memphis (State) in the AAC.
My take on this is that some of the talking heads are trying to find ways to run down the SEC. This attempt is an epic fail. No way could Ole Miss be accused of playing a weak or watered-down schedule with the SEC West rivals there every year. Last time I looked, Ole Miss's schedule was ranked 3rd toughest in the nation. Sagarin ranks us #3 in his computer poll, period.
No matter who wins the SEC West--whether it's Ole Miss, State, Alabama or Auburn, they will have earned it. And the whiners that call in to these shows and scream about the SEC bias in the media need to get a grip. Whoever your team is, they wouldn't stand up to the weekly grind of the SEC--and that goes for PAC12, Big12, Big Ten or ACC.

Yeah, our schedule ended up not being as bad as it looked in the beginning. Still, schedule ACC, Big 10 or 12, Pac12, opponents and they can't say anything. I know it's hard to schedule all OOC opponents from those conferences, but we should try.
I hear we are trying to open up 2016 with FSU and are scheduling a home and home with Texas Tech. I wish it was someone other than Texas Tech, but at least they are power 5.
