My question is how these rankings changed from last week. Obviously we would have been ranked high on this list after last weeks results (since we didn't play yesterday), but it sure didn't help us on Tuesday.

There you go! This ranking is almost meaningless.

So are the AP and coaches polls, but anything that has us at 3 in anything is a good thing.

The playoff rankings do take the coaches and AP into consideration.

I think Sagarin is considered as much as Amway and AP

Maybe, but it sure doesn't reflect in their recent rankings. In reading the criteria, they can basically do whatever the hell they want, and it basically says if one of the 13 member team ranks Ole Miss 15, there is no way for them to make the top 4!

"The down side of that is with so few people, if there is bias in the room it can have a greater impact on the final decision. If someone consistently overrates the importance of offense over defense, for example, that can affect the process more so than when the teams were chosen by more than 100 voters in Harris and coaches' polls."

"With 13 people, if somebody really has it in their head that no matter what South Carolina is not that good, if one person votes them No. 15 even if everybody else has them around the top four, they're probably not going to get in," said Bill Connelly, a writer for SB Nation whose statistical rating system called F+ can be found at www.footballoutsiders.com ."
